About

Ohio native, Utah resident. I have always loved food, but I haven’t always had the best relationship with it. My academic studies of food started when I became obsessed with how science, diet culture, and politics construct our relationship with food. I wanted to understand why humans have such a different experience with it. It can be seen as something sacred with cultures while also being demonized through science.

I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, and body image issues my entire life and I wanted to understand how those things were affected by my food choices. I’ve done it all, tried every fad diet (paleo, vegan, whole30) because I really thought there was a perfect diet for me. Eventually, I found out there wasn’t. But, I learned a hell of a lot about my body and my mental attitudes toward foods being ‘bad’ for me.

Through out my own journey with food, I’ve studied the science and the art which ultimately took me down a road of self exploration. I deconstructed diet culture, why we become addicted or afraid of certain foods, how that contributes to the relationship we have with ourselves and how to bridge that gap.

I have received a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Studies from Ohio University, a Holistic Health Coaching Certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and A Natural Chef Certification from Bauman College. I truly have an extensive knowledge of food and health with over 10 years working and studying in this field.

My mission is to connect with and educate people who are also exploring their relationship with food and how it contributes to not only their physical health but mental health as well. I create what I like to call comfort food with benefits: seeing healthful nutrient-dense food as emotionally and physically nurturing. If you want to know more about my philosophy or want to enjoy delicious food with me, feel free to follow me on social media or send me a message.

Much Love,

Chef CJ
